The Young Israel of Sunnyside is a vibrant and warm
Orthodox Jewish shul founded in the 1920s in the beautiful Sunnyside
neighborhood of Queens, New York. We are building our Jewish community
both inwards and outwards with the aid of a Kollel, have built an
Eruv, and energized the community.
With over 60 members and counting, the YI of Sunnyside
has a small town, friendly feel. From young men and women to long-time
residents, from couples and families to singles, Jewish Sunnysiders
are working to create an engaged and caring community.
Community programming includes many exciting learning
opportunities: Kollel couples in the community are available for
learning by appointment. In addition there are group meals, events
such as Challah baking and holiday parties and womens discussion
groups.
Check our calendar for more information, and contact
us if you have your own idea for a program.
Board of Directors
The Young Israel of Sunnyside is incorporated as a
religious corporation and is governed by a Board of Directors. Elections
allow for full participation in the direction of the shul, beyond
the opportunities to chair various committees throughout the year.
The President of the Shul is Stephen H. Weiner, who
can be contacted at Stevehw@aol.com.
